What: Gillian Ayres: Book Launch and Authors Talk

When: Wednesday 18th

Where: Alan Cristea Gallery

Andrew Marr leads the discussion with art critic and author Martin Gayford and David Cleaton-Roberts of the Alan Cristea Gallery. All three have contributed essays to the new monograph on Gillian Ayres. The talk takes place during the gallery’s current exhibition of Ayre’s recent paintings, drawings and woodcuts. RSVP is a must.

What: Emily Girkins and Arthur Laidlaw

Where: Cadogan Contemporary

When: Thursday 20th

The Cadogan Contemporary invites upcoming contemporary artist Emily Girkins and Arthur Laidlaw for a joint exhibition running until the 28th April. Tung-contributor Laidlaw’s abrasive and intimate landscapes will be excellently juxtaposed alongside Girkins’ tortured portraits and studies. Private view between 6.30 and 8.30 pm.

What: Detroit Swindle (all night long)

European house and disco pioneers Detroit Swindle join are the latest exciting addition to Phonox’s ‘All Night Long’ series. With only a handful of releases over the past few months, you can expect a lot of exclusives as well as their tantalising blend of disco, minimal and classic house. No doubt this party will be huge, conjuring an atmosphere that will go beyond closing time.

What: XOYO Loves: Simian Mobile Disco + Shed (Live) + Dan Beaumont

Where: XOYO

Simian Mobile Disco returns to Tung favourite XOYO with vast support. With his new album now in the public eye Shed aka Wax aka Evil Fred aka Head High will bring his live set to the XOYO stage and will leave many wanting more. NTS regular Dan Beaumont is also on the bill.

Ambient dream pop outfit Grouper is the latest to tread the boards at the iconic Tin Tabernacle Kilburn. Formed in 2005 by Elizabeth Harris, Grouper’s mysterious musical sensuality is perfect for the ousting of Sunday night blues.
